Powered By Wordpress Tabs SlidesOne of my fondest memories from growing up was getting pizza from Pizza Shoppe. We didn’t eat out much back in those days. So it was a big deal when mom and dad decided to pick up a King sized pepperoni from this little Platte Woods institution.
We’d all sit around the kitchen table with with our little salads to eat. Yep, we had to eat them. Sometimes we’d be lucky enough to get salads from the restaurant with the Pink Stuff on it. If you’ve had it you know what I’m talking about. (Guess what? They’re actually selling it now!)
It was also such a special treat because my brother and I would each get our very own ice cold 16oz. Pepsi in that tall skinny bottle. The sweet brown bubbly beverage tasted like heaven chasing down a slice of deliciousness.
When we moved back to Kansas City in 2001 that was one of the first places we had to hit. It has become a favorite of my wife and kids now too. Nothing beats that thin, cracklin crust loaded with the favorites. Pepperoni still rocks. But now we love the Roundtable or a simple pepperoni, mushroom, italian sausage, and throw on some tomato’s for good measure. Yum, yum.
If you haven’t been there you need to check it out if ever you’re wheeling through KC. There’s now 24 different locations in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska. The Platte Woods location moved to the other side of the building after a recent remodel. It’s only about a minute from the house I grew up in and is still the favorite.
Stop in and enjoy. I think you’ll agree, Pizza Shoppe pizza is a special treat you won’t forget…

Powered By Wordpress Tabs SlidesSo, Real Estate Investing, eh? Yep. That’s what we’ve been doing for the past few years. I’m sure you’re wondering how I ever got into that one. Well, the family and I were living back in KC… in between IT jobs… My dad and I decided, “hey, let’s buy a house and fix it up”. We thought it might be a fun adventure. So, I called up our friendly neighborhood realtor and he found us a nice 3 bedroom, 1 bath ranch home that was being sold out of an estate. It took a lot longer to acquire that little house than we expected. We had to wait for it to get through the courts, etc. We were pretty excited to get rolling on it. We ended up doing a majority of the work ourselves on that first house. We learned a lot. Did more than we should have. Took longer than we needed to. And made a small profit. We really had a good time with it. So, we decided to set up Bluestone Properties, LLC back in February of 2005 and go after it for real…
